Dominick Giaquinto is the Director of Music Ministries at First United Methodist Church, a position he has held since 1999. After attending the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1982 with a degree in music education and a concentration in organ, he continued his studies with eminent organists both here and abroad. Some of Dominick's teachers were Stephen Best of First Presbyterian Church, Utica; James Autenrith and William Maul of the Crane School of Music; John Weaver in New York City and Jean Langlais in Paris, France.
He also has attended numerous workshops and taken courses in church music, choral directing, handbells and organ at Wittenberg University, the Hartt School of Music, Dartmouth College and Westminster Choir College.
From 1996 to 2000, Dominick served as the Dean of the Eastern New York Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. In 2003, he served as a chairperson for the Eastern New York A.G.O. Albany Convention Committee.
In January of 2006, Dominick appeared as the organ soloist in the “Concerto in g minor” of Joseph Rheinberger with the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra in a performance at First United Methodist Church. In 2007 he performed the “Organ Concerto in g minor” of Francis Poulenc with the same orchestra at FUMC.
At First United Methodist Church, Dominick oversees the entire music program. He is the organist and choir director of the church’s Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir. He works in conjunction with Associate Choir Director Mitchell Haverly. As a member of the church’s Music Committee, he oversees the Concert Series which began in 1978.
