First United Methodist Church is committed to serving – both locally and globally.
There are many ways to get involved at FUMC Schenectady, here is the place to find out what we are doing both in our community and globally. Below is a video showcasing our Sustain ministry a part of the Giving Hope Stewardship Campaign. There is also information regarding our various other ministries and missions of our congregation.
Giving Hope – Sustain
As part of the giving hope stewardship campaign, volunteers and recipients reflect on hope and being part of a community.
Global
FUMC has an ongoing relationship with CEPAD, Council of Evangelical Churches for Denominational Alliance, an ecumenical organization that supports vulnerable communities in Nicaragua. We also have a covenant relationship with Belinda Forbes, DDS, a United Methodist missionary who works with a Christian Medical Agency in Nicaragua.
Local
FUMC has many local ministries including its free community breakfast and soap ministry. Volunteers assist at City Mission, the Home Furnishings Program, the Schenectady Inner City Mission, the Union College Campus Ministry, and many other places in the area.
