We remember.<br \/>\nAs we remember,<br \/>\nmay we seek justice and peace where it is within our ability,<br \/>\nand rely on you when the ability escapes us.<br \/>\nMay we live your love when hate seems to reign.<br \/>\nMay we bear witness to the cause of peace.<br \/>\nAmen<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Silent Prayer<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/fumcschenectady.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Page-5-Image-4.png\"><\/p>\n<h3>Pastoral Prayer<\/h3>\n<p>God of All History,<br \/>\nSeptember 11th, 2001 existed within the bounds of history.<br \/>\nThose who attacked were responding to experiences in their own lives, and<br \/>\nthose who protected responded to experiences in their lives.<br \/>\nCountless people acted out of selfless love,<br \/>\nmany of whom sacrificed everything.<br \/>\nLoved ones of those who died still grieve.<br \/>\nOur national history was transformed on that day.<br \/>\nOur war in Afghanistan started,<br \/>\nasking huge sacrifices of those who serve in our military,<br \/>\nand even more from Afghani citizens who worked with us.<br \/>\nTwenty years later we look in horror at the ways we&#8217;ve abandoned our allies,<br \/>\nand at the outcome of our presence.<br \/>\nLife transformed on that day,<br \/>\nand the impacts are felt deeply today.<br \/>\nLoving God, we have so many requests of you:<br \/>\nbe a source of strength and peace to those<br \/>\nwho are grieving,<br \/>\nbe a source of hope to those<br \/>\nwho are still hurting,<br \/>\nbe a source of wisdom to those<br \/>\nwho make decisions,<br \/>\nbe a source of grace to those<br \/>\nwho have been harmed,<br \/>\nbe a meaning maker for all of us,<br \/>\nthat we can take from our history the<br \/>\nmotivation to do better,<br \/>\nand leave behind the anger that would<br \/>\nguide us to do more harm.<br \/>\nAmen<\/p>\n<h3>The Lord&#8217;s Prayer<\/h3>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Our Father (Creator) who art in heaven,<br \/>\nHallowed be thy name.<br \/>\nThy kingdom come.<br \/>\nThy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.<br \/>\nGive us this day our daily bread.<br \/>\nAnd forgive us our trespasses,<br \/>\nas we forgive those who trespass against us.<br \/>\nAnd lead us not into temptation,<br \/>\nbut deliver us from evil:<br \/>\nFor thine is the kingdom, and the power,<br \/>\nand the glory, for ever.
