Book Discussion

FUMC has a book discussion group (sort of like a book club). We don’t have a regular meeting date, because we wait until we finish one discussion and then we pick the next book and date for the next discussion. All are welcome. Our next book will be, A Paradise Built in Hell by Rebecca Solnit. It is about extraordinary communities that arise in disaster. This book points to a new vision of what society could become – one that is less authoritarian and fearful, more collaborative and local. Bill McKibben says, “This is the freshest, deepest, most optimistic account of human nature I’ve come across in many years.”
If you would like to join us, get the book and read it, or not – you can come even if you don’t read the book. We will meet to discuss it on Saturday, June 20 at 10 am in the church library. If you have any questions, speak to Dana Carroll or contact the church office.
