Book Discussion

First UMC has a book discussion group with all welcome, even if you haven’t read the book! Our next book will be, A Paradise Built in Hell by Rebecca Solnit. It is about extraordinary communities that arise in disaster. This book points to a new vision of what society could become – one that is less authoritarian and fearful, more collaborative and local. Bill McKibben says, “This is the freshest, deepest, most optimistic account of human nature I’ve come across in many years.” We will meet to discuss it on Saturday, June 20, at 10am in the church library.
